Grout and Food Matters

By Rick Amorey

One must remember that keeping the kitchen clean is an important task. As the center for food preparation, its cleanliness or lack thereof will have an effect to the quality of the food prepared inside it. See, everything that makes contact with the food, even if it were brief, will end up inside a person's biology.

Everyone in the food business must keep in mind that kitchen cleanliness is important. Likewise, each household must be aware of the need to keep kitchens clean. But while everyone acknowledges that this cleanliness must be maintained, oftentimes the execution of it is poor. Read on if you have a tiled kitchen counter, for this article focuses on that.

In particular, I would like to direct your attention to the grout in between your kitchen tiles. That small space is the breeding ground of bacteria, and consequently must be kept especially clean to avoid these microorganisms. Unfortunately, it is difficult to reach that space with a brush, and cleaning it becomes likewise problematic. A lot of people resort to scrubbing tirelessly at the grout using an old toothbrush, while some would want to speed up the process by resorting to potentially hazardous chemicals.

But if I were to choose amongst these options, I would have to go with the former. As I've said, everything that touches the kitchen could potentially go to your food, and hazardous chemicals are, well, hazardous. Perhaps even as dangerous as what could grow on your grout.

Go for the environmentally friendly choice. Asides from helping keep Mother Earth alive and well, you will ensure that nothing that permeates your food will destroy it.

One more choice that I would be willing to present is the move to call professional grout cleaners. They can clean your kitchen grout better than anyone can, and they are well worth the cost. But before you do contact them, do some research and see if the group is any good first.
