Cheetah Print Trends

By Jason Moorstedt

People are always on the lookout for new fashions, but are afraid of picking up on something after its already outdated. Its a valid concern, considering how often and how quickly trends change, but if youre willing to try something a little different, then you may want to think about the cheetah print. The cheetah print has been around for a while, coming in and out of the fashion realm, but the key to making the print work lies in using it sparingly and tastefully.

One of the main things about the cheetah print is that it makes a bold and glaring statement. If overused, it borders on distasteful, but that shouldnt stop you from incorporating it into your wardrobe, accessories, or even home. Here are some basic suggestions if youre not too sure what to do with the cheetah print:

- Dont mix it with other animal print clothing, and be weary of having several prints in a room. Unless youre trying to give off a zoo vibe, youre better off keeping the animal print at a minimum.

- Instead, tone down the cheetah print or dress it up. Pick just one (or a few if you have to) cheetah print items for your outfit, and let them do the talking. Dont do cheetah pants with cheetah shirt with cheetah accessories " it really will get to be too much.

- Pair a sleek cheetah scarf and some cheetah heels with a black dress for a classy look, or even go with a full-cheetah gown with simple jewelry and accessories. Or, you can dress down a cheetah jacket with a t-shirt and jeans, and still look bold and stylish.

- Animal prints can be a fun addition to a room. Again, dont overdo it, but a cheetah print can be inspiring and invigorating in a room, and make for a vibrant environment.

- Consider that a little cheetah can go a long way. A simple scarf around your neck, a bangle on your wrist, or even more discretely, a notebook in your bag, may be all you need to make your desired statement.

Finally, just because cheetah print is in doesnt mean its for you. Dont force yourself into trends because you think it will validate you; the best way to be validated is by going with trends and colors that feel right for you.
