The Best Life Diet by Bob Greene

By Matt Hellstrom

I am very leery of diet plans, so when I heard about Bob Greene's Best Life diet plan I was skeptical. I wasted no time in checking it out and it seemed, well, wrong. I had always believed that diets were crash courses, and these were the ones I participated in. Start fast and furious wiping out and replacing everything I ate and then very slowly working back towards getting to eat what I wanted. The more I investigated Bob Greene's diet plan the more it starting making abundant sense.

Not only that, but as the Ah-Ha light came on, I also recalled that most people fail at dieting because it is too hard to change your lifestyle so drastically so quickly. It started to click that in starting off slowly, you see success in getting healthy and that makes you want to become healthier. Then you will take it to the next level because you are liking what you are seeing and feeling. Furthermore, you will end up where you want to spend your life, eating healthy and exercising regularly.

Bob Greene's diet philosophy is 'losing weight the right way - so you shed pounds and keep them off - takes time'. Using this thinking, this plan is set up for gradual but significant changes. Starting with simple things like having a good breakfast everyday and getting up and about, you will start seeing the changes you desire immediately. And long term, this adds up to starting and continuing a healthy, happy way of life.

Many of us are used to diets where you can easily become discouraged and stop only to feel guilty and start again. Not this one, though, because you build into healthy eating habits in such a way that it becomes a way of life. And this is really a best life diet plan because you can enjoy the comfort of food while not worrying about losing the great shape you have earned.

The Bob Greene diet plan is broken down into 3 easy to follow phases each of which lasts a minimum of four weeks. Phase 1 prepares your body for weight loss by cranking up your metabolism and increasing your activity level which will in turn start the calories burning. Phase 2 is focused on watching your calories by eliminating 6 problem foods. You'll do this by managing your hunger using a tool called the Hunger Scale. Phase 3 is all about making YOUR life the healthiest it can be - your terms and your timeline. And now you have the information and experience to do this.

If I must pick out one area that could use some work, it would be the lack of recommendations on portion sizes. This is in the top 3 of importance in keeping the weight off. It is offset, however, by the fact that your activity level is at an all time high. This will be the great equalizer in that it keeps your metabolism working full steam.

Bottom line - a good life is one that is based on balancing healthy eating and exercising on a regular basis, not on a lifelong diet. Bob Greenes Best Life Diet promotes this lifestyle through honest answers that are the foundation of a healthy, active life which is the Best Life.
